Willkommen take over Stanmer House, Sunday July 5th with Peggy Sue, Caroline Weeks, Alessi’s Ark, The Leisure Society, Sons of Noel and Adrian and more…
With summer time in full swing and the bucolic, bohemian climes of Brighton as enticing as ever, what better way to maintain the Pagan solstice – i.e. continue celebrating the good times - then by attending a solemnisation of sonic sorcery at Stanmer House?
A ten minute stroll from the University of Sussex campus and set in the heart of the Sussex Countryside, Stanmer House is a beautifully restored, stately home built in 1722. It’s regal but inviting and warm - the perfect environment for the Willkommen Collective’s mini festival.
Wilkommen have asked some friends along to the party. Taking time off from recording their debut album in the States, Peggy Sue will be there to ply us all with their sultry and baroque, lo-fidelity femme folk: considerate it a heroines’ return to their adopted home town. The whimsical and wonderful Alessi’s Ark looks set to woo and charm with songs so graceful and flab-free they belie her tender age. Willkommen’s homegrown goodness will also be in effect. Critically acclaimed and Ivor Novello nominated orch-pop wunderkind, Nick Hemming, will be bringing his Leisure Society troupe and bringing the sweet, sweet noise. Our very own multi-tentacled psychedelic, prog-folk mothership, the Sons of Noel of Adrian will cook up a heady, heavy stew of soulful sounds.
