Kid Karate aren’t only a rollicking rock band, but clever twisters of history too, it would seem: apparently this is officially their debut EP, although my review of their ‘Heart’ EP from earlier in the year suggests either it isn’t, or I’m losing the plot. Either is equally feasible, of course.
‘Heart’ resurfaces on this four-tracker which finds the racketous Irish duo dishing up a din of drums and guitars and hollered vocals. They not only sound like a full band, but one bursting with bravado and ballsy riffs. The choppy funk of ‘This City’ which follows the trajectory of Gang of Four and Radio 4 is a full-on groover. All killer and no filler, and no mistake.
