Glitchy, trippy, dubby, phasers flange in and out over funnelling basslines, analogue synth sounds that bend and warp across one another as wibbles and wobbles bounce to laid-back beats. It shuffles, crackles and pops, bleeps and whistles, whispers and clatters and it’s all well and good but lacks any obvious focus.
Still, the 32-page comic ‘novel’ (surely a novella at best) that accompanies the release is rather neat and makes a nice package overall, and it’s possibly the first time I’ve seen a story that features anthropomorphised effects units as the characters.
