Helen Boulding, despite her crooked tooth, is happy. She’s in love, and wants to sing about it. She does so in a simple, honest fashion, unpretentious and uncluttered both lyrically and musically. The result, then is a sweet pop nugget with an easygoing, sing-song chorus that’s undeniably catchy.
None of this should come as too much of a surprise, given the fact she’s previously penned songs for Joe McElderry, Bella Hardy, Ed Harcourt, Kathryn Williams, Fiona Bevan and Tim Elsenberg of Sweet Billly Pilgrim, and was also responsible for a Alex Parks’ debut ‘Maybe That's What It Takes.’ Imptessive work, however you look at it. On the evidence of this, though, she’s been reserving some of her best material for herself.
