Review: 'McCARRONS, THE'
'Whatever Next?'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: 'April 2014'

Our Rating:
Flawed but fun, 'Whatever Next?' is the debut album from this Yorkshire based three piece.

With an obvious love for British bands, indie and rock, The McCarrons have set out to produce an album that pays tribute to their many influences - and in that effect they've done a really strong job.

All nine tracks have something to recommend them, and many of them share DNA with the UK's most loved bands. It all revolves around the bass, drums and guitar set up, sometimes laying back into acoustic territory, sometimes piling forward into rock.

What all the songs have in common though is a lack of pomposity. This is the first album for this collection of three young lads who will no doubt develop and learn from here. So, if the sound is sometimes a bit familiar, maybe bear in mind that this is just a group of lads playing the music they know and love.
