Review: 'Josephina, Jana'
'Avalanche'

-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '30th June 2014'

Our Rating:
Strewn with images of snow and ice, ‘Avalanche’ is a cinematic, orchestral-led electro-pop tune of a certain 90s vintage, not least of all on account of the shuffling beat. Somewhere between The Beloved and Natalie Imbruglia slides Jana Josephina, her lyrics touching at the universal through the personal, and delivered in a most appealing way: the fact she has a pleasing and distinctive vocal certainly helps.

While it’s far from groundbreaking, as a follow-up to debut single ‘I Know’, it’s more than a mere icebreaker and with or without a visually striking (and expensive-looking) video contains sufficient ‘classic’ elements to render it memorable and offer hit potential.
