Review: 'UMA'
'UMA'

-  Label: 'Seayou Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '2nd June 2014'

Our Rating:
Uma are a Berlin-based electronica duo comprising husband and wife Elia and Florian (Flo) Zweitnig.

Their debut album features 11 tracks with a predominance of one word titles like Touch, Roam and Fear. These songs conspire to create an intense, claustrophobic atmosphere built around an anodyne female voice and bass-heavy beats.

The video for Vanity is full of black and white shots of unsmiling hipsters filmed in unglamorous locations and is indicative of the cheerless mood of the record.

Ethemeral briefly sheds some light into these dark places with repeated lines about the "feeling of floating" whereas there's a weighty absence of joy on the other tunes.
