Review: 'Girl Band'
'De Bom Bom'

-  Label: 'Any Other City Records'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '1st September 2014'

Our Rating:
‘Fucking yes’ reads one of the comments on YouTube for the video of Girl Band’s latst single, De Bom Bom’. It’s an entirely justified response. Sometimes, being his by a welter of frenetic guitar noise, pummelling drums and unhinged, yelping vocals that drawl and bawl their way through it all, conveying every last drop of nihilistic frustration while bypassing any semblance of melody hits the spot in a way nothing else can. ‘De Bom Bom’ is raw and untamed, a scraping, rollicking manic noise punk frenzy, a violent collision of Fugazi and early Nirvana.

The B-side – a cover of Beat Happening’s ‘I Love You’ – ain’t bad either.

Fucking yes indeed.
