Our Rating:
You need a physical copy of this EP just for the fact that they got Angry Johnny to do the artwork for them; way cool as far as this Angry Johnny and the Killbillies fan is concerned. The fact they list an electric toothbrush among the instruments on the EP is also much in the bands favour. Sadly it's not quite enough to make this essential listening as it is a touch too beige for its own good.

It opens with I Could Never Say.. the answer to which could well be a classic song, or a song I need to hear more than a couple of times. That said it's an ok bit of bland indie power pop with some nice guitar effects that just about keep me interested.

Against The Grain however is about as beige as indie pop gets and no matter how many times I hear it I have no real opinion on it other than it's forgettable. Well played but forgettable.

Which is why Let The Juice flow seems to jump out more as it has a bit more punch; almost sounding like something I'd expect from say Velvet Crush. It's very power pop with nice psychedelic edges too it and the best tune on the EP.

Riot is probably the least riotous song with riot in the title. It just meanders and meanders before finally coming to life for the last 25 seconds or so but the other four minutes are pretty bland and could do with being edited out of the song to make it into a 40 second instrumental. That would be cool.

If you need some more Angry Johnny artwork that comes with a free CD it's available from Ten Percenter online
