What do you get if you amalgamate some of the most brutal metal around with one of the most legendary purveyors of Japanese noise? Yep, noise beyond noise. Some tracks are overtly thrashy, others are more geared toward the fizz of noise that is Merzbow’s signature, and others combine the two to agonizing, ear-bleeding effect.
‘Rinse Thee, Great Wall, Bloody and Terrible’ is nothing short of devastating: a molten-hot wall of white noise and squalling feedback. ‘Mute’ may only have a duration of 33 seconds, but condenses all hell of violence into that frenzied burst, a speaker-shredding deluge of ear-damaging mayhem.
‘Ludjet av Gud’ is a solar wind of dark ambience with a distant martial drum hammering out a funeral march, before it’s all swallowed up by a growing swell of static and feedback. Finally, ‘Fawn Heads and Unjoy’ explodes in a frenetic tumult of crusty ubergrind noise that powers its way at 200bpm for a minute and a half.

It might not offer any major surprises, but the bottom line is that ‘Full Of Hell & Merzbow’ delivers everything you would expect. What more do you need to know?
