With its warped, bending backing, this EP sounds like a stretched audiotape being played through some badly worn heads. Its certainly quite different from 2011’s ‘Landform’ album, although there’s a clear trajectory in the way Fujako take recognisable formal elements of hip-hop, dub and urban music and mangle them almost beyond all recognition. What are these guys on?
The effect is certainly something, but it’s not necessarily pleasant or desirable – by which I mean I feel quite bilious. Chunderful!
