These four songs are ones which didn't fit on their justly acclaimed debut album - Hollow Ponds.
Rejects they may be but they are far from second rate. Only Son is every bit as good as those that made the final cut of the album and Lion Tamer is also excellent.
Astronauts' sound is all about the groove, once this kicks in the tracks glide along effortlessly to the point that endings seem arbitrary.
It's easier to understand why other two tracks were set aside. Think On (2003) falls a little too easily into the same introspective vein as Elliot Smith while Death From The Stars is a brief dreamy instrumental with acoustic guitars, piano and clarinet.
