Review: 'Amniac'
'Infinite'

-  Album: 'Infinite' -  Label: 'Distroball'
-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '19th November 2014'

Our Rating:
It’s not every day I’m introduced to Greek sludge/post-metal acts via my inbox. Perhaps inevitably, a crushing guitar burns the opening chords before Upsetter’s vocals enter the mix, howling, growling, anguished and agonised. Things start slow with the six-minute ‘And the Others Just Survive’ and trudge to a crawl on the winding eight-minute ‘Rise Like the Suns’.

Amidst the grind, there’s a rare level of detail and moments of incredible beauty, as demonstrated in the grand, sweeping title track. With hints of Neurosis, Isis and Celtic Frost, Amniac balance the heaviness of their sound with an attention to composition and texture, with an organic, earthy feel to their earth-shuddering epics.
