Review: 'A Room Swept White'
'No Love Lost (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '12th January 2015'

Our Rating:
This five piece from the south west of England are pitched as ‘melodic hardcorers’. Is ‘hardcorers’ a word? It makes me wonder if I might not prefer apple corerers given that the ‘melodic’ aspect of any metal configuration is often -problematic. The songs all start out post rock then go metal-edged punk as the overdriven guitars and pounding drums kick in.

There’s a terrace chant chorus to ‘Recollection’, too, that sounds like they’re shouting about sodomy but probably aren’t. Each of the individual sections work well enough: they’re as adept at ripped-throat metal anguish as they are emotive post-rock, but they simply don’t cohere especially well as songs.
