Review: 'Keroscene'
'Cotton Candy / Storm O.K.'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '2nd March 2015'

Our Rating:
‘Drawing influences from late 1980s noise rock, no-wave and psychedelic rock, the band describe their sound as “multicoloured melancholy”’ – so says the press release. With a softly wistful undercurrent, ‘Cotton Candy’ actually sounds rather like Echo and the Bunnymen, but with a sharp-toothed bass that buzzes in halfway through, trailing a swirling cathedral of guitar that lands somewhere between Ride and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Counterpart track ‘Storm O.K.’ is event stronger. It exploits a grungy loud / quiet dynamic before surging into a driving chorus that pounds and powers and rages without losing its focus on melody.

Cracking stuff, and one hell of a debut.
