Big riffs and blasts of dance-orientated electro collide on this five-tracker. They’re also big on the fraught, anguished emotional angle, and with their epic choruses – none more evident than the anthemic ‘Still Alive’ – Inherit the Stars hit the Linkin Park angle early.
It would be hard to deny the ambition on display here: the production is big, and compliments the Sheffield foursome’s stadium-sized songs. But while the songs are crafted with clear ends in mind, they’re not offering anything new: the clean / growly vocal contrasts, the clean, chorused breakdowns, the overdriven guitars and the electronic elements have been done countless times before. And in a massively saturated market, it’s hard to imagine there’s room for yet another act.
