Review: 'CAPTAIN MANTELL'
'Bliss'

-  Label: 'various indie labels'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'February 2015'

Our Rating:
Somewhere between Prog and Rock'n'Roll comes this mysterious trio of space punks from Italy. Sergio Pomante plays sax,Tommaso Mantelli sings and plays guitar and Mauro Franceschini drums.

The songs are in English but that doesn't make the meaning any easier. They proclaim this record to be the latest in a series of concept albums about the real life Captain Mantell who was apparently the first pilot to die chasing a UFO.

We are advised that their lyrics are "poetically spoiled by a vein of hope in the pursuit of bliss". Make of this what you will and I confess I struggled to find any unifying theme in the 14 tracks.

It's possible to hear influences from veteran proggers like King Crimson or Jethro Tull as well as a hint of rockabilly.

Confused? You will be!
