When did hair rock make a comeback? Ok, so it never really went away, but there was a period – a significant period – during which citing G’n’R and Motley Crue would have been anything but cool. Rock ‘n’ roll suicide, in fact. So what happened? Is it simply that time can forgive all sins, or that these bands never went away and there has always been music of this ilk being sweated out through tattooed pores in dingy rock clubs the nation over?
Bulletproof Rose have the chug, they’ve got the big solos and hair which is pretty big too. The title sums up the musical contents of the EP and it’s fair to say it covers all the usual bases of hard rock subject matter: bad women, badder guys, rock ‘n’ roll and more rock ‘n’ roll. Of course. What more could you want? ‘My girl don’t satisfy me no more’ Jacob Siddle snarls salaciously on ‘My Girl’. Never mind, mate, I’m sure you’ll have groupies galore before long.
