Review: 'Plastique'
'Quake'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '4th May 2015'

Our Rating:
‘Quake’ straddles the boundaries of electro-industrial and sassy pop, and Plastique make it sound so effortless it’s sickening. Drawing on the best elements of NIN and Curve, PJ Harvey and The Prodigy, they’ve whipped up their own lethal cocktail that marks a progression from their previous two albums.

The guitars are as serrated as fuck and buzz straight into your cranium while a punchy beat drives the track in a way that’s overtly rock but dancefloor-friendly at the same time. Best of all, it doesn’t come across as some cynical attempt to cover all bases, but stands as a master class in songwriting and expert execution.

‘Are you hearing this?’ asks Anelise Kunz, equal parts seduction and menace. Yes, we certainly are. Edgy without being inaccessible, ‘Quake’ sees Plastique prove themselves to be the band Garbage wanted to be.
