'Anthems for Catharsis'

-  Album: 'Anthems for Catharsis'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '15th May 2015'

Our Rating:
There’s nothing quiet about this band’s heavy drone sound. The drums hit like asteroids and reverberate for an eternity as the monolithic noise howls around them. The expansive and tempestuous instrumental tracks may not be outlandishly long, they thunder on what what feels like an eternity. It’s all about the slow burn.

The album’s summit is the ten-minute ‘Purgation / Purification’, which ups the tempo and the volume, a tense squall of expansive post-metal noise, building to a monumental climax, while ‘From Darkness Redux’ soars to another plane altogether.

So while drawing on elements of drone, ambient, shoegaze and post-metal, ‘Anthems for Catharsis’ belongs to none of these genres or any other, and instead forges into new terrain with with magnificent results.
