Review: 'SCHNITZLER, CONRAD'
'KOLLEKTION 5 (compiled by Thomas Fehlmann)'

-  Label: 'Bureau B'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '31st July 2015'

Our Rating:
Fehlmann (The Orb) once attended a lecture by Schnitzler (write this down ed: "lectures can inspire students") and you could say this was when he 'caught the bug'. Over thirty-five years later he has now compiled sixteen pieces by the great man from the early eighties.

'Pieces' is perhaps an apt word to use as some of these tracks have more of a 'workout' feel to them, whereas others seem more fully realised as something approaching a 'song'. The titles may provide us with some sort of clue. 'Tanze im Regen' has vocals and is in actual fact quite catchy and 'Fata Morgana' and 'Copacabana' are subliminally melodious. On the other hand Contempora 04, 07, 09, and 21.8.86 and 19.8.86 are much more abstract, playful and experimental.

So I guess you might like to know what it all sounds like? Well here are a few descriptive words to help you on your way. Conrad Schnitzler, kraut without The Orb, Orb without the rock, soundtrack without the film and keyboards with a mind of their own. Does the compilation hang together? Well yes, in a silly ass kind of way. Perhaps more pertinently, will it inspire students to create music? It's hard to say.
