Review: 'Dirty Youth, The'
'Gold Dust'

-  Album: 'Gold Dust' -  Label: 'Transcend Music'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '11th May 2015'

Our Rating:
Since their formation, Dirty Youth have toured with Korn, The Rasmus and Reckless Love. They’re not as good as Korn, but better than The Rasmus. As the (really rather awful) cover art suggests, ‘Gold Dust’ is a pop-tinged contemporary rock album with strong female vocals and heavy hints of Paramore, Halestorm, et al (and with her straightened pink hair and heavy eyeliner, singer Danni Monroe’s got the Hayley Williams look nailed).

Their appeal isn’t hard to fathom: the songs have energy and demonstrate a keen sense of melody. With just enough angst and attitude to give ‘Gold Dust’ an edge, it’s a confident effort that should not only please their existing fans, but gain them no shortage of new ones.
