Since the release of their fiery debut, ‘For The Ears of Dogs To Come’ in 2013, Hull’s The Holy Orders have steadily been building themselves a reputation as a cracking rock act, and ahead of an EP, ‘The Worst Day Since Records Began’, scheduled for October, they offer up ‘The Deuce of Hearts’.
Described by the band as ‘a tale of heartache, gambling and excess’ with a ‘timeless shanty feel’, it’s got one of those loping rhythms and a gritty folk melody that’s got rowdy, shoutalong hooks galore. And because it’s The Holy Orders, it’s got some big, crunchy guitars and no shortage of guts.
