Review: 'Space'
'Strange World'

-  Label: 'Ocean Waves Productions'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '19th October 2015'

Our Rating:
Fuck me, Space? Seriously? Ah what the hell: since every other tedious indie band from the mid to late 90s has made a comeback, why not Space? If insipid indie droners Shed 7 can get paid for wheeling out their dreary fodder while people in their late 30s and early 40s get dewy eyed about their youth – those Friday nights watching TFI Friday before going out and drinking alcopops while hollering along to Oasis, then I suppose it’s only fair.

Credit where it’s due, Space did manage to sound a bit less formulaic, and since their re-appearance in 2011, they’ve actually bothered to write and release a new album instead of simply trading on their former glories.

‘Strange World’ represents the first cut from their latest album-in-progress. It’s a sultry affair, with echoey guitars shimmering over some lonely brass and a smoochy beat, and in truth, it’s not bad.

So, yes, it’s 2015 and Space are back. It’s a strange world, indeed.
