Review: 'Between Waves'
'Paper Chain (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '23rd October 2015'

Our Rating:
Given the size of the place, Wales seems to produce a disproportionate number of rock and metal bands. Between Waves are another one. Their debut EP, Paper Chains, was originally released in February, but it’s now getting a renewed PR push to relaunch it this October. I’m not sure it was worth the bother.

There’s nothing wrong with any of the five tracks per se, but they’re pretty forgettable. It’s ironic that the motivation for forming was their frustration with the lack of diversity in the current UK metal scene, given that they’re offering a sound that’s very standard female-fronted rock. They look pretty generic too: stocky guts with flicked-up hair and beards, dressed in black jeans and T-shirts. But the singer looks ok, her vocals are inoffensive, and you never know, that might be enough.
