Review: 'AMBROS CHAPEL'
'The Last Memories'

-  Label: 'Munster Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'August 2015'

Our Rating:
Ambros Chapel are a Spanish four-piece band from Valencia fronted by vocalist Pablo Casero who sings in English.

His deep voice sounds like Bauhaus' Pete Murphy doing his best Bowie impression. Casero is obviously aiming to appear as intense and enigmatic as possible so sings in a suitably tormented and moody manner.

The problem is that none of the ten tracks from X to Solitary Man have any individual character or memorable hooks to match the self-conscious atmospherics.

In the video for Brazil, shot in black and white, a single female is walking along a deserted subway late at night. Four men (the band?) are approaching from the opposite direction. Having created this menacing scenario no confrontation actually materialises. This tension without the pay-off unwittingly serves to sum up the effect of this album.
