This latest offering from Kodiak Jack packs a stack of chunky riffage and some serious grunt, and if ‘Only The Good’ does threaten to veer into guitar solo hell, it’s got a strong chorus and enough meat to make it excusable.
In fact, the four tracks here demonstrate a keen awareness of the importance of melody without being wussy, with some driving basslines giving density and force to the songs. You’d never guess they were a British band, their gritty grunge overtones yell pure America. Still, what counts is quality, and this EP brings it in spades.
