Review: 'Parmiter, Tom James'
'Laws of Motion (EP)'

-  Label: 'Zube Records'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '16th October 2015'

Our Rating:
‘Laws of Motion’ finds Tom James Parmiter approaching his music from a different angle from its predecessor, long-player ‘Imperfect Symmetry’. In expanding his explorations, Parmiter has moved away from percussive rhythms to create something altogether more abstract and less rhythmically-orientated.

The six tracks manifest as soft, near-ambient states with a subtle combination of electronic and acoustic instrumentation. Gently rolling piano gradually blends into broad synth washes which ebb, flow and eddy, slowly turning shapes. There are glimpses of melody which drift and fade out, and the pieces are structured in such a way as to be constantly moving, shifting – something that could perhaps be said of the artist himself.
