That the five tracks on this debut EP represent the fruits of five years’ work doesn’t say much for Beatrice Wood’s work-rate. Still, operating under the guide of Capt. Lovelace, these simple, uncluttered vignettes, consisting simply of acoustic guitar and voice, are crafted and beguiling. And there’s a song called ‘Banana Hammock’, a charmingly wonky little lovesong of the kind in which Lovelace seems set to make her trademark.
