Review: 'Carmel'
''Sad Situation'/'Second Wife Blues''

-  Album: 'Double A side single' -  Label: 'Independent'
-  Genre: 'Pop'

Our Rating:
Vocalist Carmel was what you might call something of a 'big deal' in the 1980s. Songs such as Bad Day, More More More, Sally, It’s All in the Game and others offered her chart success, before a departure from music which saw a dearth of releases for several decades.

Now she returns with a double A side single and a new band, both offering great promise if she is looking to return in the long term.

'Sad Situation' is a slightly trippy, sun tinged vibe which may have slightly missed its mark in terms of its Autumn release. However, should the sun find its way through the Autumn leaves this month it may find a suitable home for its warm, vocal based arrangement.

'Second Wife Blues' is a different animal, offering a kind of blues twang mixed with clean pop which works surprisingly well thanks to a lyrical message you feel is heartfelt. Fingers crossed for more.
