Review: 'Hercules Morse'
'Edge of Life (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '4th December 2015'

Our Rating:
Promising ‘a bold combination of groove-based riffs of stoner/desert rock’, chunky guitars provide the basis of the six tracks on this EP. While the inevitable comparisons to Foo Fighters and Queen of the Stone Age have already been made, there’s also a clear element of straight ahead 70/80s rock.

Needling lead guitar lines and close harmonies are equally integral to their sound, and the title track is as notable for its strong melody as its level of chug. The slower ‘All About Me’ showcases a sensitive side, an expansive sound and an epic guitar solo. If anything, their sense of ‘song’ and ability to combine a guitar-driven sound with accessibility without being a pop band calls to mind Therapy? That’s no criticism, either, and in a market swamped by generic stoner rock / metalcore / pop-punk, Hercules Morse offer something different.
