Review: 'NICHOLLS, DANNI'
'Mockingbird Lane'

-  Label: 'Danni Nicholls Music'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '23rd October 2015'-  Catalogue No: 'DNM001'

Our Rating:
Danni Nicholls recently returned to her Bedfordshire home, having completed her second album which, like her 2013 debut (A Little Redemption) was recorded in Nashville.

Track titles like Leaving Tennessee and Back To Memphis indicate that her musical soul still resides Stateside. The US influences easily outstrip those from the UK.

She has stuck with the same trusted team of producer and bassist Chris Donohue plus a band of Nashville-based musicians. She describes it as a grittier album than her debut, far more ‘live’ sounding but I can't say that I can hear this myself.

The clean, melodic sound is, however, well suited to her classic (i.e. conventional) song writing style.

Since she sings of heart being stolen or Beautifully Broken rather than torn apart, there is not much in the way of raw emotion. Still, if you like your country music safe and slick this will fit the bill.
