Review: 'IMMANUEL, DANA'
'Dotted Lines'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '23rd October 2015'

Our Rating:
The banjo is Dana Immanuel's instrument of choice but when it comes to country, I'm quite sure Hank never done it this way.

She plays (and looks) like a self-style punk who's into all things vintage who is as likely to be found listening to Alice Cooper as Dolly Parton.

The fact that the most listened to track of hers on Spotify is called Motherfucking Whore tells you that this is not a little girl made of sugar and spice or all things nice. She describes herself as "a bourbon-willing redneck from the hills of North London"

This follow up to her debut album - Character Assassination - is another dose of bluesy anti-folk from a one-time busker who now has her own all-girl gang (the Stolen Band).

If it was all sassy attitude it would become tiresome quite quickly but there is true wit and wisdom in her songs. I particularly love Life In Colour with straight-talking lines like: "You're a nice person. I enjoy your company but mindless sychophany is just not something I need." (Ouch!)

Be Like Arnie is offers plenty of practical alternatives to a life spent suffering fools gladly.

It's short - 8 songs, 32 minutes - but this suits the fast and furious style. Always leave them wanting more.
