Review: 'Massacres'
'Brutus (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '5th February 2016'

Our Rating:
It’s one of those band names that suggests they’re a bunch of hardnuts, but at the same time, is suitably vague as to the musical genre they subscribe to. This is appropriate, given that the London 4-piece churn out a genre straddling sound that would probably be best described simply as ‘noisy’.

‘One of the Boys’ is snarling metal-edged grunge-punk affair: manic yowling / drawling vocals collide against chunky riffage and sets the pace for their wild sonic assault. With nods to Pissed Jeans and Cancer Bats, the TP’s four tracks are bursting with angular stop/start squalls of dirty guitar, tearing basslines and lurching drums. Slotting neatly – or not so much neatly as sprawling in a chaotic heap, spitting and twitching – alongside the likes of The Jesus Lizard and Blacklisters, theirs is a sound that’s ugly and in-yer-face. And that’s just the way I like it.
