Finally, the first single from The Rebelles' long overdue debut album is coming out on March 18th. And, as as is fitting for a band who play classic rock covers and feature Tracie Hunter, that first single is the bands version of All The Young Dudes: a Bowie classic made famous By Tracie's Dad Ian's original version with Mott The Hoople.
The two other singers in The Rebelles are Elizabeth Westwood and Phoebe White and if you've seen them live they are backed by all sorts of musical legends. This recording is no exception as James Stevenson from Gene Loves Jezebel/Cult/Chelsea and Holy Holy among others fame is on Guitar, while Glen Matlock of the Philistines/Rich Kids/Sex Pistols etc plunks the bass while Ian Hunter features on backing vocals, ensuring this an all-star take on a classic song.
For anyone screaming "cash-in!" at the thought of anyone putting out a Bowie cover this year I know this song was in the band's set when I saw them last year and was already pencilled in as a single while the great man was still around.

So do you need telling that this is a great version? Well yes it is and well worth getting hold of. Even if it can't top the original Mott version it is a very decent version and is easy to listen to over and over again. On the b-side, meanwhile, is the instrumental version that's perfect for anyone who fancies a good sing along to it karaoke style. It's a fine taster for that long awaited debut album that will hopefully arrive later this year.
