From the cast and director of the quirky channel four sit-com ‘Spaced’ comes this Romantic Zombie Comedy (aka RomZomCom). The excellent Simon Pegg (Spaced, Big Train) takes centre stage in this strange homage to the Zombie genre. Following the recent irreverent remake of ‘Dawn of the Dead’, it could be thought that ‘Shaun…’ is jumping on the undead bandwagon. However, it’s a breath of fresh air, and shows that the subtleties of UK comedy are unrivalled.
The story is what you would expect, zombies putting the whole of the Nation in a state of panic, well almost, apart from our central characters. Following recent separation from his girlfriend, Shaun (Pegg) considers the Zombies of minor importance in comparison.
With just a shovel and a cricket bat (and a little wit) Shaun and Ed (Frost; Spaced, Danger Incoming Attack) begin on fulfilling their prior engagements, namely visit mum and get back Liz, the girlfriend. You can work out what follows, Zombies, Blood, and a prized vinyl record collection.

Jessica Stevenson (Spaced, Royle Family) makes a brief appearance, accompanied by a briefer appearance by The Office’s Tim, who makes way for a larger role by screen-mate Lucy Davis (Office and daughter of Jasper Carrot!) and a whole host of other cameos.
Fans of Spaced will be expecting great things, as they should, and will therefore leave feeling a slight sense of disappointment. Those however who are yet to discover the delights of Spaced could do worse than visit a screening of ‘Shaun of the Dead’.
