Al Shields is an Edinburgh-based "Britpop kid" turned acoustic singer songwriter with romantic visions of what, in Boatload Of Worry, he calls the "highways, train tracks and dusty old roads" of the USA.
"American music always resonated with me more", he says and the six songs illustrate this pretty clearly.
It's derivative of course but what isn't?
He plays the guitar sweetly and sings simple, direct songs like he means it. Sometimes that's all you need.
