Review: 'SUNDOWN DELAY'
'Rubik's Cube Is Fighting Back'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '25th April 2016'

Our Rating:
The curious title and odd cover image of a pig in a jacket with human hands nearing the completion of a jigsaw puzzle are as hard to deconstruct as this debut release.

Helpfully, the Swedish trio break their sound into percentage chunks: 50% New Wave of British Heavy Metal; 40% 60's pop and 10% Psychedelic.

Of these, the NWOBHM proportion is most evident largely due to Svante Widerström's whiney vocals. Clever Dog, in particular, sounds like a watered down version of early Black Sabbath.

Ultimately though, the six tracks are too offbeat to count as straight pop and too lightweight to merit the label of hard rock.

The band hail from Alingsås, town near Gothenburg which they dismiss as "a shithole". They may want to elevate the town's artistic status but this EP shows that the band need to forge a tighter and more distinctive identity if this ambition is to be realised.
