Review: 'Astronauts'
'Breakout'

-  Label: 'Lo Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '19th August 2016'

Our Rating:
Now it’s had some time to embed, it’s clear that Astronauts’ second album, ‘End Codes’ is a slow-burning classic on a par with its predecessor ‘Hollow Ponds’ and is up there with Dan Carney’s previous incarnation, Dark Captain [Light Captain].

‘Breakout’, the third and final single lifted from the album, encapsulates its low-key tension and disquiet, the unique balance between a laid back exterior and a jittery, prickly frustration. One of the album’s many highlights and with no lyrics that can be embarrassingly misheard, it’s accompanied by the now-obligatory brace of remixes in the shape of a Rich Thair) Red Snapper) remix of ‘Breakout’ which has a stripped-back drum ‘n’ bass vibe and a woozy, dubby electro mix of album cut ‘Hider’ by Pesky Youth, both of which sit well alongside the originals.
