When I opened the jiffy bag this came in I was quite excited at first thinking I'd been sent the new Rodney Crowell single to review. It was only then I noticed it's actually by Rodney CROMWELL, who isn't a country legend and much more of an electronica semi-legend. He's actually the current nom de plume of Adam Creswell, formerly of Saloon and Arthur & Martha the latter of whom I'm sure I saw live quite a while ago and spent my review comparing them to the Kevin Coyne song of the same name.
Anyway, the EP's tittulr song is named after how dear old Phil Collins dumped his missus, the charmer. Thankfully, musically it has no detectable Phil influence being far more a Telex meets Black Cab synth pop tune full of ennui and a wallflower dance beat, so you can lean against the wall and still groove to it.
The Hologram Teen's Video Suitors Mix adds more of a beat to it and strips out the vocals making it more a late night mover in some small sweaty club.
The Chris Frain remix of Baby Robot is an oddly wonky dance tune with some very cheap 80's synth sounds. It again recalls Telex and Kraftwerk but with some of the sheen Pet Shop Boys added to that sort of sound with some nice spacey bits during the comedown.

Auw's Obsessive Perfection Remix of Fax Message Breakup is twice as long as the two other versions and starts like a New Order dance remix. Then the vocals come in and it's all a bit John Foxx for a bit before it goes all four to the floor House banger. Thankfully not in an annoying way at all, though, and indeed this would just keep the party going.
The EP Closes with The Leaf Library's remix of Cassiopeia. This is a real chill out synth backwash to sit back and stare at the stars to as you come down from another great night out. Probably best heard at about 4.30 am.
