'Red Flag'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '14th November 2016'

Our Rating:
‘Red Flag’ is the follow up to debut single ‘Time to Stop the Rain’, which hardly had me jizzing in my pants with excitement. While in a similar vein, this is better, more distinctive.

So, if ‘Red Flag’ sounds like an amalgamation of the country and folk stylings of her influences, who include Eva Cassidy, Carole King, The Corrs, Anastacia and the Dixie Chicks, then on this outing Bex demonstrates a knack for a decent hook and a solid song which is her own.

It’s well-produced, there’s some nice slide guitar work, and her voice is strong, and is well-suited to her message of strength for dealing with a no-good cheating rat of a man. I’m no cheating man, but I’m also clearly not her target audience: anything I could say may be considered patronising, so I’ll just leave it that it’s a good song well sung, and with heart.
