Review: 'MOTORAMA'
'Dialogues'

-  Label: 'Talitres'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '21st October 2016'

Our Rating:
My esteemed fellow reviewers on W&H have praised this five-piece Russian band's previous three albums while acknowledging the strong similarities to the likes of Interpol and Joy Division.

The Factory Records link in particular is again impossible to overlook in this new batch of tunes about tortured days and sleepless nights.

They may not be from Northern England but here are the same breed of young men carrying weights on their shoulders with replica dispassionate vocals in a set of miserable songs synthesized.

Half of the ten tracks clock in at under three minutes so what the press release call their "wondrous melancholy" is at least delivered briskly and in short doses.

Past praise for the band's convincing manner of duplicating a dark 1980s post-punk vibe are the very reasons why I feel distinctly underwhelmed by this album. It is just too retro for my taste, a journey down a time tunnel with no light at the other end.
