Oh good. Pop-punk. From Derry, New Hampshire. This is clearly what the world needs to get 2017 off to a flying start, to help everyone get over the depressingly awful shitstorm that was 2016. Three cheers for Under Fire! With choppy, fast-paced guitar-driven tunes about nonconformity and finding the positive in negative situations. You know, the heavyweight stuff that really matters.
The band says, “We worked endlessly for months on end to put this together and we couldn’t be any more proud of how it came out. We really hope everyone loves what we created as much as we do.”
I wanted to. I really did. The EP’s opening track, which is also the title track and lead single start with some moody, atmosphere-building feedback before it all goes Blink 182.

They’ve got no shortage of energy and the songs are tightly structured – if predictable – and well played, with an undeniable passion. But Josh Carley has a rather whiney voice and he chews the words while at the same time overenuncianting, and the lead guitar are irritatingly busy at times.
Aside from that, and the fact this EP was co-produced by Alan Day of Four Year Strong, there really isn’t much to distinguish these guys from countless other bands of their ilk.
