Kriedler have been around for 23 years and this is their response to the politics of the day. Five songs captured live in the studio as spontaneous improvisational takes. Minimal editing, overdubs and production to aid conciseness. It's a man and machine thing. So far so Bureau. Stringent drumming, edgy electronic sequences, synthetic soundscapes and flourishes of bass and guitar.
'Boots' has a hobnailed industrial edge and a heavy groove, coupled with an air of menace. It is both lithe and brutal. 'Kannibal' is driven by propulsive bass and drums and airy synth lifts it from the dirt. It builds further with chant like electronic vocals. 'Coulees' has a trance like quality and bass tom drums rather than a full kit rhythm. Slow builds to nowhere would seem to be order of the day for this album and that's what you get with improv. No set destination.

'Radio Island' almost heads to the club but instead veers off to the quarry to see the sun come up and that's the best place for it. It's got repetitive nag syndrome and a lengthy run time. The final track is 'No God' and once again the key feature is the drumming. The drummer comes across as the driving force of this band and he is pretty amazing. Quite tribal and very 'locked in' and if you fancy being locked in with him 'European Song' would be a good place to start. Looks like I gotta work backwards again.
