Review: 'All Ears Avow'
'Edge of This (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '28th April 2017'

Our Rating:
It’s got all the hallmarks of being a quintessential 21st century emo-tinged Kerrang alt-rock band release: the title hints at the kind of emotional state that’s perpetually on the brink of some breakdown or another, the moody shades of the cover art renders the ‘edge of the precipice’ allusion literal, and Muse, Don Broco, Biffy Clyro et al are all checked in the customary roll-call of touchstones featured in the band’s biography. So far, so standard.

Claire Sutton’s vocals are one of the band’s real strong points: she has power and emotion, but without being remotely shrill, and her delivery elevates the EP – very much geared toward driving guitars and keen, hook-centric melodies – above the average.

‘Gone’ strolls into mid-tempo emotion-heavy anthemic rock territory, part Paramore, part Lower Than Atlantis. The two singles, ‘Hurricane’ and its predecessor ‘Just For Me’ are clear standouts, boasting strong, memorable choruses and enough punch to be convincing.
