According to the press bumph, The Good the Bad and the Zugly (or GBZ) is probably Norway’s best kept punk rock secret. Truly the bastard child of the Oslo’s nineties punk scene, these young men carry the torch of Turbonegro, Gluecifer and Anal Babes and remind us of a time when punk rock was a promise of infantile nihilism and pure vicious fun!
‘The Worst Four Years’ is a compilation album consisting of the early 7” singles as well as the Bransjvelter compilation track ‘I'm Fucked Up’ featuring Kristopher Schau and an unreleased cover of Brainbomb’s ‘It’s a burning hell’.
Infantile nihilism is on the money: the album’s 12 tracks fill all of 28 minutes with snarling, high-octane aggression that’s delivered fast and raw. Titles like ‘Fucking is Awesome’, ‘I’m Fucked Up’ and ‘Killing Time’ give a fair indication of the simplistic ideas behind the three-chord thashabouts. There’s nothing subtle or sophisticated about the material on ‘The Worst Four Years’. There are no hidden depths or layers to unravel, but there’s a lot of furious energy. And while the songs were recorded in the last seven years, they encapsulate the spirit and sound of the US scene 30 years previous.

Unpretentious, reconstituted, and unrepentant, this is proper punk with a fist-pumping hardcore spirit.
