Review: 'Orestea'
'Elements'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '22nd September 2017'

Our Rating:
I should probably create a template review with blanks to fill in for all the ‘alternative’ rock bands who cite Stone Sour, Paramore, Don Broco and Coheed and Cambria, factoring an element of mock admiration for their eclectic tastes.

Working on the assumption that the band’s name is intended as a ‘clever’ alternative spelling of Aeschylus’ trilogy of Greek tragedies, it would be an equally fair assumption that ‘Elements’ is an album that’s big on drama. If only it were the case. ‘Elements’ provides no drama and no surprises.

Opening an album with a mid-tempo anthem is about the measure of the imagination when it comes to so much melodically-emoted anguish. Because, yes, the ten emo-tinged tracks on ‘Elements’ are strong on melody, and Lisa Avon really does know how to belt ‘em out. But it’s all lung and no throat, and moreover, no real guts, and any angst or passion is ironed out in the super-slick production.

There really isn’t anything to distinguish this from infinite other identikit post-millennium Kerrang! Radio rock acts, other than perhaps one of the most pretentious cover designs I’ve seen all year.
