Review: 'CALLENBERG'
'Dear Satellite'

-  Label: 'Bend Records'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '26th January 2018'-  Catalogue No: 'BENDCD 003'

Our Rating:
Swedish musician Anders Callenberg plays droning ambient music influenced by Kraftwerk, Boards Of Canada and Eno.

For this album he uses a Yamaha CS70M synthesizer on all twelve tracks and these analog waves give the music a decidedly retro flavor.

Callenberg's monotone vocals are buried in the mix implying that the lyrics are not the key thing here. They are supplemented by occasional B-movie voice samples.

The low key mood can be judged by song titles like Are We Screwed?, International Boredom Conference and Some Stones Are Really Hard.

In search of satellites, he is drifting rather than racing through space and the question in the opening track - What If We Never Get There? - is posed idly without any sense of urgency.
