The uplifting mood of this debut album belies the fact that it was partly inspired by personal tragedy.
The life and perspective of this Brooklyn-based singer songwriter was turned upside down by the death of his mother and stepfather in a private plane crash. In 2014, he released a six-track EP called ‘Fly’ and he likens his approach to music making to a journey of self discovery.
In the title track he imagines what might have been going through his parents’ minds when they crashed although its doubtful that the casual listener would not pick up this reference.
Seeking to see life, including his own, from other (mostly brighter) points of view is the driving force of his songs. With a full electric backing band, including strings and brass, the raw folk-country roots are transformed in tracks like Pour Me A Drink and Xanax, Cocaine & Whiskey into full blown rock numbers with a bluesy and boozy flavor.

The Bluegrass-fueled celebration of life as a rambling man in Name of Fame is a further illustration that his healing process is well on track.
