Review: 'Glass, Ani'
'Mirores'

-  Label: 'Recordiau Neb'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '6th March 2020'

Our Rating:
Ani Glass’ album was prefaced by the release of the title track as a single, which showcased a dancefloor-friendly disco style that’s dreamy, wistful, and overtly europop in influence.

This is only one facet of Glass’ repertoire, though, and while ‘Mirores’ mines a seam of light, lilting electropop, it ventures into an array of moods and forms, from uptempo grooves to spartan atmospherics, with spoken-word and dialogue samples filtering through a couple of the tracks.

The former Pipette sings in Welsh and Cornish, and rather than proving an obstacle to appreciation, it adds another layer of mystery to the keenly melodic but often softly haunting songs. The last of these, ‘The Rising of the Moon’ is sparse and spacious, somehow spinning a blend of sadness and euphoria into a magnificent cocktail.
